Austin
Austin -- a name with an attractive southwestern feel, place-name panache and the solid base of having long been an Anglo-Saxon surname --reached the Top 10 in the 1990s, but has been gradually slipping down the list, perhaps an after effect of the smarmy Austin Powers.
Literary namesakes include Austin Sloper in Henry James' novel Washington Square, and there have been several Austins in soap operas and films.
The Austen spelling is also used, sometimes as an homage to Jane Austen.
