Thread: Maude?

Hi! I'm a nurse-midwife and I really wanted to honor the profession by naming my baby girl after Maude Callen (a S.C. midwife - and an inspiration of mine). My husband and I both loved the name anyway, but we're really struggling with finding a cool middle name that brings it back into this century... any suggestions? Also, do you think it would be better in the middle instead?

I'll have to think about middles, but I think Maude is a beautiful choice for a first name :)

Hi! I love Maude, too, and think it's great that the name has a special meaning to you. I adore Maude as a first name or a middle name--just do what feels right for you.

If you're looking for a name with a lot of nickname options, Maude would probably work better for your baby's middle name. I think Maude is such a beautiful, elegant, timeless name!

    Some ideas for middle names:

    Maude Amelia (my favorite combo)
    Maude Elizabeth
    Maude Elisabeth
    Maude Evangeline
    Maude Clementine
    Maude Eleanora
    Maude Josephine
    Maude Louisa
    Maude Katherine
    Maude Katharine
    Maude Catherine
    Maude Cecelia
    Maude Violetta
    Maude Aurelia
    Maude Georgiana
    Maude Victoria
    Maude Ambrosia
    Maude Isadora
    Maude Matilda
    Maude Annabella
    Maude Isabella
    Maude Arabella
    Maude Olivia

    Best wishes to you!

    Re: Maude?

Maude is fantastic! I've got Maud (no 'e') at the top of my own list! Maude's tough to pair, in my experience but then, I have trouble with one syllable names in front, it's a shortcoming of mine. Some ideas I've had recently:

    Maude Coralie
    Maude Penelope
    Maude Genevieve
    Maude Winifred
    Maude Violette
    Maude Pomeline
    Maude Clementine
    Maude Roxana
    Maude Celandine
    Maude Francesca
    Maude Primrose
    Maude Valentina
    Maude Pandora
    Maude Ophelia
    Maude Elspeth
    Maude Angelina
    Maude Zuleika
    Maude Henrietta
    Maude Euphemia
    Maude Ghislaine
and two that feel almost too modern for me:
    Maude Madeleine
    Maude Caroline

I really do think Maude is aces and should go up front if you really love it (I do and am using it in front) I would only put her in the middle if I liked Maude, but not enough to use her as a first. I think Maude already is in this century and just needs something cool/funky/different in the middle, not really anything modern. Something with a lot of meaning for you in the middle would be even more awesome. For the record, my #1 is Maud India Scarlett and I'll definitely be using it if I have a girl aso your Maude woun't be the only Maud/e running around! :D

    I hope that helps!
