    Iris

So, we have a flowery last name, 3 syllables. I love the name Iris. The more I think about it, the more I like it. But is it too much “flower”?

What do you think and how do you like the name?

Well, it depends on what your last name actually is. If it’s only subtly flowery (it means flower or something) then it’s fine. If it’s something like Flower or Rose, then it’s probably too much flower.

that’s the thing. Last name means flower valley in an European language.

Do you live in a country where they speak that language? If not, then I think it would be okay. Btw Iris Flowervalley is beautiful and I think it’s okay to use it, even if you do speak that language.

I don't think it's an issue at all. Iris doesn't bring an image to mind as strongly as 'rose,' or 'daisy' to me.

Iris would definitely be fine to choose unless you live in the country where your last name means flower valley, although even then it may be fine. Without knowing the name/language, as it may be very subtle so in that case, you would have to decide whether or not it works.

Yes, we do live in Germany, that‘s the thing. But I guess you are right, Iris isn’t probably as flowery as Rose or Daisy.
