I am not big on the way Ysobel *looks* either, but we are considering it instead of Isobel is because of the spelling of my husband's name -- it is spelled with a Y where traditionally it is spelled with an I. He was one of 7 in his circle of friends and the only one spelled with a y so he actually went by "y" enough that he still answers to it, 10 years later. And we thought it would fit as Cristian doesn't have an h (this is how his romanian namesake spells the name). We would pronounce it the same though, not ee-so-bel. If we choose that we are aware it may need lots of clarification, but Aurelia does too so we are used to it!!
