Our Top Boys name-combo suggestions needed?!

    Hi Guys,

I’ve just posted a similar post over on the girls names board but for those who haven’t read it I’ll explain again! Like most of us on here I’ve been an avid name fan since I was about 7 years old and my Mum bought me a “name dictionary”. I was forever putting together name combinations for my future children which I now look back on and cringe at!!

My partner and I are now at the point where we know we will probably try for our first baby in the next 18months – 2 years so my obsession with names has reached fever pitch! Luckily for me, I have a fella who not only indulges my constant “what do you think of this name?” texts while we’re both working but who actually finds the subject interesting too (though he’s not what I’d call obsessed either!).

Between us we’ve settled on a few favourites which keep popping up now. We tend to favour unusual, strong but creative sounding names for boys that aren’t too stuffy! As we are both Welsh we also want Welsh middle names however my partner is a non Welsh speaker so something easy for non Welsh Speakers to pronounce also! Oh and also I forgot to mention on the girls board we’re hoping to move to Canada with my partners work in a few years so we want names that won’t be too common in the UK or Canada! So these are our top 7 first names for boys, followed by several possible welsh middle names. Opinions and suggestions welcome!! What combinations would you use??:

    1. Harlan
    2. Sonny
    3. Quentin
    4. Deacon
From here on out we slightly disagree!
    5. Jarvis (one of partner’s favs, I’m not sure)
    6. Arthur (one of my favs but I worry about it feeling stuffy next to the other names)
    7. Lennox (both like it, but being British we worry about the Lennox Lewis (famous boxer) connection)

The first boy would have to have 2 middle names, as one would be William after my grandfather and the other a welsh name. All others could have 1 or 2 middle names though I’d prefer 1. Lee is another optional middle name as it is my partner’s middle name.

    Welsh names I like:

    1. Ioan (yo-ann)
    2. Trystan
    3. Dylan
    4. Lloyd
    5. Bryn
    6. Rhydian (rid-ian)
    7. Owain (oh-wine)
    8. Ellis
    9. Cai (kye)
    10. Macsen (max-en)
    11. Griffin
    12. Geraint (gare-int(as in pint)

Can’t wait to hear your suggestions and ideas!! xx
