    Opinion on these names?

Me and my husband cant not decide on what to name our first child. We came up with a few ideas that we are really fond of. Can you please give us your honest opinion on what you think of them?

    Ashlee Rose
    Erica Meghan
    Shiloe Nicole
    Alanna Marie
    Brittany ?
    Liliah ?

Honestly? I'm sorry but I find them either too trendy or too dated. Ashlee, Erica and Brittany are really eighties to me. Not bad names, just not very fresh sounding. Shiloe is all Jolie-Pitt to me, and I like it better spelled they way they spell it, Shiloh, like the place. I would also like Ashley better spelled Ashley. Liliah is pretty but I prefer Leila or Lilah. When I first read it, I thought it said Lilah, so you would just have to be prepared for it to get mispronounced a lot. Alanna is my favorite of all of your names. It's still a bit eighties but it has a pretty sound and seems much less common than Brittany.

Your middle names seem sort of like generic fillers to me. Are they family names? I think either more unique or family names are fun for the middle spot.

I agree with everything justthinkin said. If those are the names you love though, use them:)

    Re: Opinion on these names?

Hi, Chrissy. I completely second Justthinkin's post.

Some fresher, more current/stylish names you may like:

    Instead of Ashley:

    Audrey
    Ashby
    Alice
Sophie (popular, but a classic, unlike Ashley)
    Bryony (a plant name)
Chloe (Top Ten, but less dated than Ashley)
    Daphne
    Esme
Hadley (trendy, but not dated yet like Ashley)
    Ivy
    Lucy
    Phoebe
    Rosalie
    Ruby
    Romilly

    Instead of Erica:

    Annika
    Cora/Cordelia
    Danica
    Eliza
    Francesca
    Julia
    Louisa
    Matilda
    Quinn/Quincy (K sound...but trendy)
    Stella
    Scarlett
    Tessa
    Viveca

    Shiloh:

    Isla (eye-la)
    Iris
    Ivy
    Bryony/Briony
    Clementine (nn Cleo)
    Dinah
    Delilah
    Diana
    Fiona
    Lila
    Lola
    Violet

    Instead of Alanna:

    Amelia
    Annabelle
    Anna
    Alice
    Aurora
    Arabella
    Arianna
Alexandra (very popular and similar to the trendy Alexis, though)
    Calla
    Dahlia
    Emilia
    Gemma (jem-ma)
    Georgiana
    Juliana
    Liliana
    Mariana
    Susannah
    Viviana

    Instead of Brittany:

    Bree
    Bryony
    Bianca
    Bryn
    Bellamy
    Beatrix
    Amity
    Cecily
    Caroline
    Felicity
    Juliet
    Natalie (very popular)
    Scarlett
Whitney (also dated, according to Nameberry, but for some reason, feels less dated than Brittany to me...)

I think Liliah is okay, but I personally prefer Lila. You may also like:

    Delilah
    Lila
    Liliana
    Lillian
    Lilac

    Instead of Megan:

    Margaret
    Teagan (not personally a fan)
    Gretchen
    Gwenyth
    Genevieve
    Bronwen/Bronwyn
    Maren
    Miranda

    Instead of Nicole:

    Noelle
    Nicolette
    Colette
    Olivia (very, very popular, though)

    Marie:

    Marielle
    Mariana
    Marisol
    Mabel
    Margaret

I love Rose as a first name, but it has unfortunately become the #1 middle name in the country...today's Lynn, so to speak.

    Rosalie
    Rosalind
    Rosabelle
    Rosamel

    Other names you may like:

    Celia
    Charlotte
Emmeline (Emma is #1, though, so there are a lot of Em names out there...)
    Genevieve (nn Evie)
    Georgia
    Hope
    Josephine
    Katherine
    Marielle
    Simone
    Stella
    Tess
    Willa

    Best wishes to you! :-)

    Re: Opinion on these names?

Hi ChrissyLynn, thanks for sharing. Of your list, I really like Alanna and Liliah but without the h so it's Lilia, so it doesn't get confused with Lilah (unless the extra i was a typo, in which case I like Lilah, too). I also think Erica is nice. I have to echo what some of the others have said about middle names, though; they are pretty but they are very typical middle names. Have you considered using Rose or Marie as first names? I like Jill's suggestions, and here are a few extra ideas, in case you're interested:

    Alanna Camille
    Alanna Violet
    Alanna Gwen

    Erica Vivian
    Erica Juliet
    Erica Willow

    Lilia Meghan
    Lilia Margot
    Lilia Paige

    Nicola Shiloh
    Marie Alanna
    Rosa Natalie

P.S. I really liked the name Brittany growing up but have lost my enthusiasm after Britney Spears, unfortunately, like a lot of people have. If you both really like that name and are alright with the Britney Spears association, then go with your heart; otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it except maybe as a middle name.

    Re: Opinion on these names?

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of most of a lot of those names. But I do love Shiloh, and Alanna is okay.

    Shiloh Francesca
    Shiloh Regina
    Shiloh Miranda
    Shiloh Cecily
    Shiloh Geneva

I really like the suggestions of
    Alanna Camille
    Alanna Violet
    Nicola Shiloh
    Erica Willow

I agree the names are too dated! Im in my twenties and i had three brittany, megans in my classes. Liliah, Lilly, Liliana are really nice classic names. Shiloh with out an e is also very nice.
