What would you think of Newfoundland as a name?

I was trying to come up with place names and I was wondering what you would think of Newfoundland as a name. The Nickname would be Newfie

    Combos could be:
    Newfoundland Grace
    Newfoundland Elizabeth
    Newfoundland Gabrielle
    Newfoundland Cassandra
    Newfoundland Olivia

hmmm its soooo long and almost looks like you're trying to hard....that being said I actually like Newfie on a boy...so maybe it could work

    How about:
    Germany
    winnepeg (winnie or peggy)
    Louisiana---Louise is coming back
I seriously considered Cape after Capetown South Africa
    Zealand
    Oslo

    ...um

Yeah Newfoundland is a place name that should stay a place name, imo.
If it was used as a name I'd automatically think of a boy but I couldn't even imagine it as a name to begin with.

I would go with something else,

    What about;

Newlyn (a legitimate name of celtic origin)
    London
    Landrey/Landrie
    Holland
Milan (place in Italy, variant could be Milani)
    Noelle
    Nova
    Norella
Nazareth (believe it or not I actually know a girl with this name, she pulls it off.. somehow)
    Maitland
    Mädchen (pronounced may-chen)

It just looks too long and "wordy", with the combination of New, Found, and Land, for me to picture it as a name. Maybe consider Ellesmere instead, with the nn "Ellie" for a girl?
    *under construction*

    Eli ~ Opal ~ Wesley ~ Maude ~ Olivier ~ Holly ~ Elijah ~ Ella ~ Hudson ~ Sally
