    Last name is Buffalo

Well, we are two weeks away from our due date and are still struggling to find a name for baby. We are not sure if we are having a boy or girl but there are the names we are kicking around. Any other suggestions would be greatly welcomed, especially for boys since that list is pretty small.

    Girls:
    Scarlett Sienna
    Sienna Scarlett
    Cedar Lauren
    Cedar Logan
    Vienna Lexie
    Cypress Eden

    Boys:
    Jett Hudson
    Carter Liam
    Jacob Jett
I also like Logan, Jonah and Aiden.

I know that these names, especially for the girls is not common. But it is also tricky to find a name that 'goes' well with Buffalo. We'd love to hear your thoughts and any new suggestions! Thanks!!

    Re: Last name is Buffalo

Hmmh, very tricky with your last name, since Buffalo immediately conjures up an image (not a bad thingvery cool actually!). That said, I might stay away from "word" names that also conjure up imagery. When I see "Scarlett Buffalo" I immediately think of a dark red Buffalo! Of your girl names, I like Scarlett and Cedar the best, though I wouldn't use them for the reason mentioned above. Of course, if this doesn't bother you then go for it! As always, the most important thing is for you to love the name :)

Of your boy names, I think Carter and Jonah work the best with your last name. While I like the classic style of Jacob, since your last name begins with "B" the two names run together.

If it were me, I would choose simple first names since your last name is so unique.

Charlotte Buffalo (same feel as Scarlett, but without the mental imagery)
    Celia Buffalo (instead of Cedar?)
    Lucy Buffalo
Anna Buffalo (nn Annie?Annie Buffalo is pretty cute!)
Margaret Buffalo (nn Maggie? Same feel as Annie)
    Grace Buffalo
    Susannah Buffalo

    Daniel Buffalo
    Edward Buffalo
    Nathanial Buffalo (love this!)
    Henry Buffalo
    Jude Buffalo
    Luke Buffalo
    Isaac Buffalo
    Thomas Buffalo
    William Buffalo

Well, we are two weeks away from our due date and are still struggling to find a name for baby. We are not sure if we are having a boy or girl but there are the names we are kicking around. Any other suggestions would be greatly welcomed, especially for boys since that list is pretty small.

When naming a little girl, it is important to downplay your last name in your case. You can do this by choosing a name that is two, three, or four syllables and by putting at least two consonants from Buffalo into her first name. Also stay away from Western or Word names. For example:

Elizabeth Buffalo nn Libby Buffalo. Libby really helps Buffalo to fade back!
Freya Buffalo - only has one of the consonants, but it works really well.
Hollis Buffalo - just has the "l" sound, but it is working.
Fiona Buffalo - has the "f" and long "o" sounds.
Georgia Buffalo - Now this doesn't follow my rule, but it is working because the two soft "g" sounds are so strong that they help to dominate Buffalo. We've got to tame that beast!

Buffalo is tricky, but together we'll all think of good ideas.

Okay, the names below are very pretty, but for me they don't calm your last name down:
    Girls:
    Scarlett Sienna
    Sienna Scarlett
    Cedar Lauren
    Cedar Logan
    Vienna Lexie
    Cypress Eden

These names below are nice , but why not celebrate the name Buffalo? Three of the names below are great with Buffalo - Hudson, Liam and Logan.
    Boys:
    Jett Hudson
    Carter Liam
    Jacob Jett
I also like Logan, Jonah and Aiden. Okay with Jonah, I think of a great fish and a buffalo. I don't like that image.

Now, for a boy Buffalo is a cool last name! Why not play it up and go cowboy?
Wyatt Buffalo - this is happening!
    Zane Buffalo
Liam Buffalo, this is Irish, but it does sound rough and tumble with Buffalo.
I like Logan Buffalo! L and long O sounds together. Brilliant!
Hudson Buffalo is so cute, too! Short U sounds match nicely.
Owen Buffalo - Two long O sounds match. So handsome! Flows nicely.

Or you could pick up the "f" sound with:
Frank Buffalo - sounds great! Very simple but strong.

    Re: Last name is Buffalo

Hi there, and welcome to Nameberry! :-) With Buffalo as a last name, I'd just stay away from using color and place names (and nouns/adjectives in general). If, however, you're aiming for a Native American feel, I think nouns would definitely be appropriate.

Scarlett Sienna: While Scarlett is lovely, I wouldn't pair two colors together in one name. Likewise, Scarlett Buffalo sounds like someone is talking about a red buffalo.

    Sienna Scarlett: See above.

Cedar Lauren: I wouldn't use a noun with Buffalo, and Lauren is dated.

    Cedar Logan: See above...

Vienna Lexie: I definitely wouldn't use Vienna, a place name, with Buffalo, as it sounds like she's two cities.

    Cypress Eden: See above.

    Boys:
Jett Hudson: You've got the noun and place name issue here, too.
Carter Liam: I suppose Carter could work with Buffalo!
Jacob Jett: Jacob would be my pick with Buffalo.

    Logan: Logan Buffalo could work...

Jonah: I vote for either Jonah or Jacob Buffalo...

Aiden: Aidan is quite overused, but I think it's a lovely name.

Of your boys' choices, I like Jacob and Jonah Buffalo, and of the trendy name, I think Logan Buffalo really works!
