    Mack

My husband and I really love the name Mack but are worried that it may sound too curt with our last name (also one syllable). Is there a middle name that would work or possible a longer version of Mac that works with our one syllable last name?

I agree with you about Mack being to abrupt with a short last name.

    Let's see...

    MacArthur
    Macaulay
Cormac (this would be my pick)
MacNeil/McNeill (actually someone I know...He goes by Mack.)

I really think of Mack as a nickname, so any Mc/Mac name should do the trick!

On the nameberry search, you can search for boys' names that start with Mc and with Mac (not just with the first letter) and see what you come up with, as longer names that could lead to the very cute nickname Mack.

Do what Pam said! You'll definitely find something there! By the way, I think Mack is adorable!

My little cousin's name is MacLean ("Lean" is pronounced "Lane"). I think that's fairly cute, we call him Mack and Macky. The suggestion Cormac is great, and it doesn't sound as trendy- I have a feeling all the Mc/Mac-Somethings of today are going to end up with a date stamp further on.

Aww, Susan beat me with Malcolm, nn Mac! My boys used Mac as a nickname when they were younger, it's the beginning of their last name though, so that's why. I like the sound of it but then, I hear it all the time becuase of the surname.

I would definitely go with Malcolm or Cormac nn mac, since those won't date as badly as any of the Mac- names up front will.
