    help! i am due in 5 weeks....with #2

hi. we don't know if we are having a boy or girl. we have a 2 yr old named Ethen David ( a little too popular for my tastes but both were family names, and it really suits him now).

    some names we like:

GIRLS: (middle name virginia, family name, that doesn't really 'go' with most of the names we like but we're using it!)

    Amelia (also like Amelie, Emilia)
    Maya (too popular?)
    Simone
    Linnea (too uncommon, pron. problems)
    Audrey

    BOYS:
    August, nn Gus
    Zachary
    Henry
    Dillon

JUST IGNORE THIS POST. SORRY, BUT I CAN'T ERASE IT.
GIRLS: (middle name virginia, family name, that doesn't really 'go' with most of the names we like but we're using it!)

Amelia (also like Amelie, Emilia) - this is so pretty
Maya (too popular?) this is pretty, too
Simone I started loving this name when I was in high school. Simona is a variant, and I think it's even prettier and also so unique.
Linnea (too uncommon, pron. problems) but I really like it!
    Audrey - absolutely love this!

My faves of your girls are Audrey and Simona instead of Simone. Oh, but with the middle name Virginia, I don't like Audrey and Simona. I don't really like any of the above choices with Virginia, but maybe I will change my mind after a while. That often happens. Here's what I like with Virginia:

    Scarlett Virginia
I'm going to do some research and add some more names in a few minutes.

    BOYS:
August, nn Gus - love so much
Zachary - very handsome, it's common, but not that common, I think.
Henry - this is so popular, but I really love it. I would use it.
Dillon - not my cup of tea

My fave of your boys is Henry.

I don't really like any of the above choices with Virginia, but maybe I will change my mind after a while. Lola and many of the other posters will have a lot of good ideas for first names to go with Virginia. That seems to always happen. Here's what I like with Virginia:

Scarlett Virginia - so gorgeous. I know a Virginia Scarlett.
    Grace Virginia
    Helen Virginia
    Paige Virginia
    Rose Virginia
    Isla Virginia
    Claire Virginia
    Ruth Virginia

I really love the name Virginia as a first name with the nn Ginger. Ginger is on my fave girls' list. But not everyone loves Ginger as much as I do. There's also Ginny. Anyway, Virginia goes beautifully with a lot of middle names.

    BOYS:
August, nn Gus - love so much
Zachary - very handsome, it's common, but not that common, I think.
Henry - this is so popular, but I really love it. I would use it.
Dillon - not my cup of tea

My fave of your boys is Henry. But I think most of the other posters will love August the most. I'm just a classic names fan most of the time. In some states such as California where I live Henry is not that popular. So you could name your son Henry here in CA and still be original. I don't think it will ever get super popular here. Too many other names are so popular here because they sound more like a fabulous baseball or soccer player. Henry doesn't sound very athletic. He sounds more studious.

With the middle name Virginia, I really likes Susan's suggestion of Paige. I also like both Amelia and Audrey.

    Hi!
I think that with the middle name Virginia and a lot of the suggested first names out there from other posters, you're running a big risk of sounding very southern belle (Scarlet Virginia really shouts Antebellum South to me). Of the girls' names you've already come up with, I really like the name Audrey as it's very sophisticated, and I do think that it goes with Virginia in the syllable cadence, as well as being of interest in mixing two different styles. Plus, I don't think you should sweat it too much--off course you want to pick a great name, but how many people in your life even know your middle name?
As for your boys' names, Zachary is my personal favorite, but I think they'd all be just fine (although I must admit that the name Gus just reminds me of the fat, dim-witted mouse from Cinderella).
