names similar to Phoebe and Zoe?

Good evening (at least from where I am)! I'm thrilled to find a place to chat about names... I'm only a few months along with my third, but I'm already searching for that "perfect" name :). I have two daughters, Phoebe Beatrice and Zoe Josephine. I don't really have any names I absolutely love yet and I'm hoping to get some of your thoughts...

For my first two, my hubby and I went with more whimsical/sunny sounding first names and more refined/classic middles (the middles are also family names). The only ideas I have are Eloise Helene for a girl and Harry Augustin or Fred (no middle ideas yet) for boy.

I really like Fred, and I like Harry also, but I actually know a Harry who was kind of gross/hairy :) so I have negative associations with the name which worries me. I don't want to always look at my kid and see the other Harry if you know what I mean...

Anyway, what do you think of these names? Do they work well with my daughter's names? Any other suggestions would be awesome!

sorry for any repeats, my post got erased and i had to start over!

personally, I'd use a name with an O in it, it's such a good looking letter, I'd be jealous if my sisters both had Os in their names and I didn't!

Re: names similar to Phoebe and Zoe?

Eloise sounds great with Phoebe and Zoe! I like Fred and Harry with the girls' names too. Like many people on this site, my first inclination is always to give formal names that can be shortened to a nickname so the child has more options.

Since both Phoebe and Zoe are Greek names, I came up with a list of other zippy Greek names (or at least I think they sound zippy!). Some have already been mentioned. Nameberry has hundreds of other Greek names that might also strike your fancy.

    Girls:
    Calla
    Cassia
    Clio, Cleo
    Daphne
    Echo
    Eleni
    Gaia, Kaia
    Ianthe
    Iris
    Lydia
    Niobe
    Psyche
    Tessa
    Thea (Theadora, Theadosia, Dorothea)
    Xanthe
    Yolanda

    Boys:
    Cosmo
    Ezio
    Hero
    Linus
    Nico
    Orion
    Theo (Theodore)

Love the suggestion of Clio! I think it looks great with your girls names and sticks with a greek theme.

I love the mixture of "sunny names" with classic ones that have family meaning! Maybe you could go with another Greek name, as Phoebe and Zoe both have Greek roots? That being said, Eloise and Henry are lovely choices as well!

If you wanted to go in the Greek direction, I think names that have fully been integrated into American society would be better than very obscure Greek names, like, um... Achilles, for example. :)

    Good luck!

The idea of a Greek name is really cute!
    I love:

    Girls:
    Daphne
    Acacia nn Kacia
    Melina nn Lena
    Iris
Penelope nn Penny, Nell, Nellie, or Poppy
Delphine nn Feenie, Fina - French from Greek
    Cora
    Lydia
    Eleni
    Tessa
    Catherine nn Cate, Cassie
    Calandra nn Callie

Not a Greek name, but so cute: Esme
    I also love Eloise!

    Boys:
    George! - love it!
    Sebastian
    Elias
    Linus
Luca (Italian variation of the Greek Luke)
    Orion
    Andreas
    Kostas
    Cosmo
    Matthias
    Dimitri
    Peter
    Philip

And this name isn't Greek, but it is so cute: Laszlo! Laszlo is Hungarian. Sounds incredible with Phoebe and Zoe. I also love Harry as a nn for Henry and Fred as a nn for Frederick.
