    Spanish Boy's Name

My husband grew up in Spain and has a Spanish background. I'm Italian and Irish.

We have one child, a daughter - Luca, who is 3 years old now.

We're expecting again, a boy, and we want a trendy and uncommon, but still acceptable, Spanish name, but we can't find on that we're crazy about. Any ideas?

    How about:

    Cruz
    Hugo
Lorenzo nn Enzo (or just plain Enzo)- sorry melissa2, I beat you to it :)
    Mateo
    Mattias
    Felix
    Raul
    Apollo
    Fabio or Fabian
    Sergio
    Julio
    Javier
    Xavier
    Alejandro
    Pablo
    Valentino

My personal favorite with Luca are Cruz, Enzo, Hugo, Mateo, and Julio. Sorry that all of them aren't Spanish or 'trendy', but I liked them so much I couldn't resist suggesting them. Hope that helps!

    Luca and Navarro
    Luca and Navarone
    Luca and Alvaro
    Luca and Cortez
    Luca and Octavio
    Luca and Arlo
    Luca and Benicio
    Luca and Dezi/Desi
    Luca and Marquez
    Luca and Armando
    Luca and Leonardo (nn "Leo")
Luca and Sebastian (granted, Sebastian is in the top 10, but I like it with Luca!)

P.S. I'm confused about the "trendy" yet "uncommon" preference, because trendy names, by nature, aren't uncommon. Could you give an example?

What part of Spain? There are many cool regional names but it's probably important to your family to reference the right part. Without knowing, here are some, mainly from Catalonia:

Pau (Catalan for Paul, also means peace, now known through Pau Gasol of the LA Lakers)
    Jordi (Catalan for George)
    Ausies (Catalan for Ausias)
    Marti (Martin)
    Bernat (Catalan for Bernardo)
    Manu (nn for Manuel)
Ferran (Catalan for Fernando, known through world famous chef Ferran Adria)
Adria (Adrian, like the last name above but also a first name)
    Aitor (Basque)
    Nacho
    Carles (Catalan for Carlos)
    Josep (Catalan for Jose/Joseph)
    Gervasio
    Santiago (nn Tiago or Thiago)
    Salvador
    Maore (Basque)
Oriol (Catalan - like the oriole bird, the Baltimore baseball team)
    Enric (Catalan for Enrique)

Also, I'd browse some of the Spanish newspapers online for names. Suerte!
