    Sibling name to Deacon

    Hi All!

We are in the very early stages of considering another baby. Our son is almost 2 and I love his name. It is very meaningful as it includes both living great grandfathers names. Our issue is that we cannot find a name we love as much as we loved our first.

Our style for boys seems to be surname /occupational. Not common but familiar. Our girl name contenders we do not agree on at all. I long longer frilly names and my husband likes more unisex names.

    Some examples:
    Archer
    Beckett
    Bennett
    Bishop
    Conrad
    Cormac
    Evin
    Fergus
    Forest
    Grady
    Hank
    Harrison
    Layton
    Micha
    Nicholas
    Peter
    Patrick
    Shepherd
    Sawyer
    Waylon

    Alice
    Agnes
    Beatrice
    Bayla
    Demaris
    Eleanor
    Elora
    Emmeline
    Eliza
    Florence
    Georginia
    Kate
    Marjorie
    Natalie
    Ophelia
    Reese
    Rachel
    Taylor
    Kelly
    Vada
    Vera

    Any suggestions are welcome!

    Deacon & ________
(I kept some of yours that I liked the most and then threw in a few more suggestions!)

    Boys:
    Archer
    Beckett
    Bennett
    Conrad
    Cormac
    Everett
    Forest
    Parker
    Patrick
Shepherd- I'm sort of drawn to this one, but it could sound very church-like with Deacon. As Deacon is a position in a church and Jesus Christ is said to be a Shepherd.
    Sawyer-a favorite of mine

    Girls:
    Alice
    Audrey
    Beatrice
    Eleanor
    Elora-a favorite of mine
    Emmeline
    Eliza
Georgia-I don't love Georginia, but this is a shorter version which might flow a bit more with Deacon!
Lorelai-could do the nn "Rory" which can be unisex which your husband likes!
Natalia-A less popular version of Natalie!
    Natalie
    Ophelia
    Taylor

Have you and your husband thought about doing a girly name for the first name and then a more unisex name for middle (or the other way around). It might be a good compromise unless you use family names for the middle!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! They are beautiful!

I am leaning towards Shepherd for a boy myself , but I am a little worried people will think of religious connotations. I love them both individually though!

I really like Deacon with Bishop and Shepherd the most! Probably the church-theme going but still a kick of modern names.

Other occupational name suggestions for boys:
    Cooper
    Foster
    Fallon
    Hunter
    Marshall
    Mason
    Parker
    Scout
    Baxter
    Beckett
    Keller
    Walker

For girls, Meredith is both (kind of) frilly, long name and unisex!

Or you could always go for a frilly long name and have a unisex nickname! Here are a few ideas:

    Theodora (Theo)
    Imogen (Moe)
    Aurora (Rory)
    Leonora/Leontine (Leo)
    Rosemary (Romy)
    Cordelia (Cody)
    Wilhelmina (Billie)
    Danielle (Dani)
    Ottilie (Otto)
    Francesca (Frankie)
    Charlotte (Charlie)
    Persephone (Perrie/Percy)
    Andromeda (Andie)
    Seraphina (Raffy/Finn)
    Alexandra (Alex)
    Veronica (Ronnie)
    Josephine (Jo)
    Jacqueline (Jack)

    Hoping this helps out!

    Silas Percival & Maren Ginevra
    Roman Leopold & Seren Cordelia

    Gideon Magnus & Thalia Sigrid
    Damian Godric & Fiona Cordis

    Theon Balthazar & Freya Amaranthe
    Atlas Peregrine & Astrid Seraphine

    Hugo Atticus & Vera Imogen
    Vigo Elias & Saga Ione

    Thinking about:
    Jasper Endymion & Margot Olympia
    Rigel Evander & Ceres Ariadne
    Robin Lysander & Piper Calypso

Deacon and Shepherd are PERFECT together. They feel more occupational to me than religious, and I absolutely adore both of them.
Lucy Marigold, Hazel Cornelia, Stella Sunday, Winnie Clover, Sadie Harper, Grace Beatrix, Poppy Avalyn, Rosalind Aria, Scarlett Finley, and Haven Matilda.

Shepherd Charles, Paxton James, Milo Bear, Gideon Sage, Knox Bravery, Elijah Wolf, Wyatt Langley, Tobias Wilder, Deacon James, and Asher Isaiah.

I love Shepherd, and Deacon and Shepherd are wonderful together and I certainly wouldn't have noticed the religious references. I love Archer, Beckett, Bennett, Forest, and Harrison too from your list.

Alice, Eleanor, Elora, Emmeline, Eliza, Florence, Ophelia, and Reese are my favourites from your girls list. I like pp's suggestions of using a longer, girly name with a unisex nickname, or even a unisex name with a girly nickname.

    Some suggestions:

    Edison
    Lester
    Sullivan
    Grayson/Greyson

    There are so many from your lists I think work excellently with big bro Deacon. Pretty much all of your boys are in the same vein and I don't have much to add, but I see the problem with girls. I've tried to combine the two/three distinct styles with the girls suggestions;

    Ransom
    Crosby
Bay (also would be cool for a girl)
    Nobel / Noble
    Solomon
    Callahan
    Abel
    Booker
    Stirling
    Hayes

    Maren
    Filia
    Bronwen
    Lark
    Maeve
    Briar
    Scout
    Imogen
    Fifer
    Tierney
    Annabel
    Willa
    Anwen
    Phaedra
    Astrid
    Seren
    Violet
    Names warm my soul.
