Thank you @georgieloverpie - Yes! I find naming boys ridiculously hard

For instance, Octavia is beautiful for a girl but Octavian is just too OTT for a boy...

I love Rupert too, but alas, my husband doesn’t feel the same. At the moment I feel like he hates all the names I love.

Thank you for your support x

Orlando is great! Literary and grand, but fun too, and not as “much” as Octavian (which I love, but yes, it’s a lot of name).

Maybe Orson, Oberon/Auberon or Ossian, if he’s suiting literary O names?

    Have you discussed Magnus?

Oh, I love Octavian. I find that names that sound unusable become utterly “normal” seeming once you meet a real person with the name. I’ve known kiddos called Love, Messiah, Nehemiah, Miracle, Cricket, Ransom, Evangeline, etc., and they’ve all been worn with grace. However, Octavian is a whole lot of name, beautiful as it may be.

Orlando!!!! It’s Shakespearean, literary, historic, and internationally used and adored. It definitely suits a dark-haired child, and seems to me to be a more usable alternative to Octavian. Orlando is beautiful and a little flowery, but also seems nerdy and cute. I can just imagine a little Orlando being called Arlo, which is so adorable.

I must be absolutely no help! I love every name you come up with!

Any updates on the naming process? Have you decided on Octavian?
