What would you name a brother for Adela?

We're really struggling - please help!!!

Our daughter is named Adel@ and we love it - it's easy to say and spell, is traditional and has a great history, it's familiar, but it is quite unusual. We can't seem to find something equivalent for a boy and we can't agree! Middle name will be Andrew or John Andrew, last name is similar to Harris. DH has vetoed Raphael, Walter, Callum, Theodore and Miles. He likes Frederick but I'm not sold (what do you think?).

Options we're considering but that don't seem quite right:
Arthur - but don't like Artie.
Alfred - Alfie is getting quite popular.
    Edmund
    Ezra - trendy.
    George - popular.
Joseph - 'Joe Blow', 'Average Joe' etc.
Louis - but the Loo-is pronounciation is terrible with our last name.

What are we missing? Any suggestions would be great! Or even if you could convince us on one of our contender names? Thank you!!

    Hi there.

You're right; your daughters' name is lovely. I like Frederick. I don't love it, but it's nice.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

Arthur -Yeah...I don't like Artie either. It's too bad, because Arthur is adorable.

Alfred - I adore Alfie. I'm guessing that you're in the UK. It's not at all popular in the US where I live.

Edmund-This is okay. I much prefer other 'Ed' names. This one sounds frumpy to me.

Ezra - Is that trendy in your area? It's not so much here. I like it, but you don't want a name that's over done.

George - Classic, but yeah, maybe a bit common.

Joseph - I love just Joseph, but Joe/Joey is not nearly as good & may be hard to avoid.

Louis -Too bad that this doesn't work; it's handsome.

    Thanks everyone!!

I love Oscar and Eli, but they're so popular in Australia. I'm adding Edwin to the list - will see what my husband says!

I'm not crazy about the 'mund' in Edmund, but we can't use Edward as its been used in our family. We could potentially use Arthur without Artie - I think? I do like Ari and Bear. I've also added Simon to the list, and we're thinking about Felix.

I’m in Aus and have a Louis! And my fur baby is Oscar (wish I hadn’t used it for the dog!)
I love Arthur, it’s on my list for baby #2 and we thought if we went with a J middle he could be “AJ” as well. So perhaps Arthur Joseph?

Another combo could be Joseph EdmundJed

I really like Eli too, and Simon is also a classic. Good luck!
