    Opinions on this name???

I was thinking of perhaps calling my daughter Villanelle. I do already have a middle name picked but I was thinking perhaps some opinions of the name would be needed before setting it in stone!

    Thanks!

It's a bold choice and personally I'd keep it for a middle

Honestly, I like the sound of it but it also reminds me of the word villain so I don't know if I could use it as a first. But then I could be pronouncing it all wrong.
I do like that you could easily use the nicknames Vivi, Laney, Elle or Nell which are all adorable.

Thinking of: Phoebe Rosalind or Griffin Orlando

Even though it's a word outside of Killing Eve, I strongly associate it with the show—and therefore with the image of an assassin. Now, when she's older, will people still know the reference? Maybe, maybe not. But for me it would be too much. (And I've never seen the show or read the book it's based on.)

Aside from that, I like the poetry connection and the nickname potential, but I don't love the sound—like the previous poster, I hear "villain."

I think Villette is prettier, and no villain association.

I have seen Killing Eve so that is my immediate association. It is quite a good choice for the character in the series because it has a rather elegant and feminine sound, and immediately makes one think of "villian." That is also why it doesn't feel right for a person. It sounds more like a word than a name to me.

It does have nice qualities though. I wonder if you can pinpoint what aspects of Villanelle you like and search for other names with those qualities. For instance, the "nelle" sound: Vanelope, Ornella, Catrinel and Fenella.

I'm not a fan, sorry. It sounds like the name of a land/town/city.

All I see is villain, not something I'd want to be named for my entire life, personally. Perhaps it's best in the middle spot or as a pet's name?
