    2 possibilities for Adelines sister?

    Hi all

We have an Adeline (ad-a-line) and number 2 girl is joining her soon. At the moment we are down to -
    Marielle (mari-elle) or Margot/Margaux.

What do people think of these names and which is the best?

(We are open to alternatives as well, ideally longish names as well if anyone wants to suggest any!)

    Thanks!

    Hi there.

Oh, I love Adeline! Margot is cute (I prefer this spelling), but I think that I'm just growing tired of it because I see it on this site so much. In real life it's not that popular, but it is rising up the popularity charts quickly. Maybe that doesn't bother you. In any case, I find Marielle way more interesting and pretty.

    Other suggestions:

    Beatrice

    Beatrix

    Cornelia

    Cecilia

    Eloise

    Emilia

    Eleanor

    Felicity

    Genevieve

    Josephine

    Louisa

    Lucille

    Lucienne

    Magnolia

    Ottilie

    Penelope

    Rosalie

    Vivian

    Wilhelmina

    Hope this helps.

I second Marielle! It matches better with the elegance of Adeline imo

Thank you both. Personally, I prefer Marielle but my husband prefers Margot (is it ever easy?!). And thank you for the alternatives Michellem, funnily enough quite a few are on my favourites!!

I like Margot! Such a lovely name - vintage but fresh sounding like Adeline.

    Marielle is lovely too

Mirabel, Miriam, Eleanora, Marigold, Magnolia, Mabel, Verity, Georgina, Harriet and Tabitha came to mind

Personally I prefer Marielle, but I think both names work well with Adeline. As for Margot/Margaux, I like the Margot spelling better.

Other ideas: Vivienne, Matilda, Charlotte, or Rosalind (plus, I really like the earlier suggestions of Tabitha, Genevieve, Eleanor, and Beatrice/Beatrix )
pairings with my new loves (boys)
nearly all of these were the suggestions of fellow berries - thank you!

Both names are really lovely - you can’t go wrong - but I prefer Margaux. I find it to be such a beautiful, sophisticated name and it suits Adeline. So does Marielle though. If you want a less popular name then I’d definitely say Marielle is a better choice.

    Some other ideas:

    Clementine
    Beatrix
    Amelie
    Luella
    Violet
    Mirabel
    Willa
    Pearl
    Matilda
    Vivienne
    Maeve
    Freya
    Penelope
    Theodora
    Ophelia
    Tabitha
    Eleanor

    Sorry for any repeats.

Both of those are fantastic with Adeline! I do love both, but I think Margot matches a bit better stylistically than Marielle. You really can’t go wrong, though!

Thanks you all for answering. It's looking 50:50 at the moment in terms of your picks (Margot/Marielle) but its great to know that either are good choices. We are also adding some of the suggestions to our current lists. Names are hard!

As for our first , we are in Europe and her name (Adeline) is pretty uncommon. I think I've only heard of her name in reference to an octogenarian. we have a somewhat common surname so wanted a name that she wouldn't be going to school with and being one of 2 or 3 with the same!
