Thoughts on this uncommon name for our 3rd baby?

    Hi Berries,

I’m due for baby #3 in a mere 3 weeks, so exciting!

We have a girl named ‘Willow Harper’ and a boy named ‘Winston Oakes’.
This baby will be our final boy to join our family.

We have a ‘W’ theme and also have a tree theme.

The name we have both set our eyes on is ‘Woods Calloway’.

Woods is a very rare name and I have yet to meet another named Woods, nor have I seen many threads or mention of the name.

We love the nickname Woody on a little boy, but understand it’s not ideal on a grown man. We are also aware of the possible teasing aspect of this name, however feel in today’s generation there are so many unusual names out there that teasing is not like it used to be in the past.

I would love to know your thoughts on the name Woods.
    Thank you so much.

I went to school with a Woody, so while unusual, Woods is definitely not outlandish.

I am not personally one for non-traditional names, but I appreciate the name so much more knowing that it works so well with your other children's names.
    All the best!

I'm not a big fan. I think of Tiger Woods or going out to play in "the woods" when I was a kid. Neither is the end of the world, but just leave me feeling 'meh' about the name. I'd probably go with Wilder, Wallace, Whittaker, Walter, or even Woodrow then pick a more explicit tree name if you felt the need, like Wallace Hawthorne or Walter Linden. I don't think you need to be beholden to both your rules either, or compromise a bit. Rowan and Ewan, for example, both have prominent 'w' in them and are both trees but do not start with 'w'. Rowan Calloway sounds awesome.

I like Woods. Not one I'd use myself, but it totally fits into your family. Lovely and I don't think it's too out there.

It's okay, but I don't love it. What matters is that YOU love the name, though.

Have you considered Wilder or West?

I know a little Woods and I thought it was an adorable name. However, if you're really having hesitations, I also really like the pp suggestions of other W names like Wilder and Whittaker.

I actually quite like woods! I see it as a similar feel as Brooks. It also goes great with Willow and Winston. However, Woody isn't my favorite.
