I wouldn't say that Benedict/Reuben are terrible, but I prefer Bennett for a first name over either of those, with Benjamin as my second choice. If Bennett feels too trendy for you, you could try sort of grounding it with a more traditional name, like Bennett Joseph or Bennett Thomas.

My cousin's name is Bennett. I think it's great as a first name. I really don't know anyone else with that name, and it was super unusual when he was called that because it was 1988 or 89, no one had that name.

Reuben reminds me of the sandwich, but Benedict is really lovely! I also like Benton, but I think it has a similar feel to Bennett, so maybe too trendy for you.

All four 'Ben' names are great choices.
I love Reuben as a first name and I love Benjamin as a middle name (or first!).
    All the best!

I guess it is just an American thing. According to Wikipedia:

"The Reuben sandwich is an American grilled sandwich composed of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing, grilled between slices of rye bread. It is associated with kosher-style delicatessens, but it is not kosher, because it contains both meat and cheese."

Are you in the UK? It looks like Reuben is actually fairly stylish in the UK (ranking in the top 100). It's definitely not as "in" here in the US. The Spanish spelling ranks in the 400s and the English spelling in the 900s.

I voted Benedict as it's more obviously an honor name for Ben. But you could also do Benjamin in the middle. I do really like Ruben and if it not being obvious doesnt bother you you should go for it.
