    Opinions and suggestions please!

    Hello,

I have recently started to take a liking to Remington nn Remy/Emmy and Ellington nn Elle for a girl. Both these names a very different to my other favourites but just out of curiosity, what do you guys think of them? Do you think they have the same style as one another or are different? Can you see either of them working on a girl?

And what would you name a sibling of Remington or Ellington?

    Thanks!!

    Savannah Juliet “Savvy J”
    Laela Naomi

    Caleb John
    Judah Samuel “Jude”
    Wyatt Moses

They are quite different to your other names, but they're quite nice. I like the surnamey feel, the girly nn options and the soft yet strong sounds

As a sister for Ellington or Remington, I'd expect....

    Kerrigan (Kerry)
    Campbell (Cammie, Bella, Belle)
    Addison (Addie)
    Sumner (Sunny)
    Barrett (Betty)
    Madigan (Maggie, Maddie)
    Waverly (Ava)
    Arlington (Arlie, Aria, Ari)
    Kensington (Kenzie)
    Camber/Camberly (Cammie, Ami)
    Brighton (Bee, Bri, Bonnie)
    Everett (Evie, Etta)
    Everest (Essie, Este, Ester, Ever)
    Peregrine (Perry)

I do think they are overlapping styles, and they happen to sound very similar. Both are surname names, but they give me different impressions. Ellington is okay for me, because of Duke Ellington, and Ellie isn't a bad nickname. The gun association with Remington really puts me off.

If I saw a little girl named Ellington, I'd definitely expect music inspired names for her siblings. Simone, Bowie, Etta, Lennon, Loretta, Cash, Davis, Billie, Hendrix, Morrison,
Janis ... the list could go on forever.

Remington really gives me kind of an obnoxious yeehaw feeling, and I just see kids with really rambunctious names. Maverick, Rebel, Rider, Hunter. I have a hard time imagining it on a girl.

Never in a million years. Remington is a gun manufacturer...why would you give that name to a girl? Ellington sounds like you are trying really, really hard to come up with something that's not Emerson or Emery. But I do like Duke Ellington!

    Remington Steele !
You may be too young to have watched this but if you name a girl Remington you should know it as I imagine there will be people asking if you know it.
Ellington I think can also work well.
Remy & Ellie are very sweet.
