    International variations

What are some names you can think of where you like an international version more than your local version?

    For example:
    Marta > Martha
    Inez > Agnes
    Matteo > Matthew
    Evan > John

Which names can you think of?

    Some for me:

    Marguerite > Margaret
Sylvie > Sylvia (though I like both)
Amélie > Amelia (though once again both are nice IMO)
    Étienne > Stephen/Steven
    Raquel > Rachel
    Kirsten > Christina/Christine

Overall, I tend to prefer classic English names!

    But I do love:
    Tavish > Thomas
    Vasiliy > Basil
    Rosa > Rose
