    Soft, simple, and timeless names?

Although I’m not pregnant now, my husband and I have been discussing baby names off and on for the last couple of years. We both like girl names that are soft sounding, simple to spell + pronounce, and timeless (as in not trendy or made up). My name is Emily and I love how classic and simple it is, so I want to pick a name that mirrors that. We have a short list, although names we love keep getting used by family members so I’d like to add more just in case. I would also love to hear opinions on the names we already like.

Side notes: Our last name is a little clunky and often gets mispronounced, which is why simple spelling and pronunciation aspects are important to us. It begins with a P and is three syllables. Also, I have a slight lisp which isn’t very noticeable to others but makes me self-conscious, so I’d prefer to avoid names with a strong S sound.

    Our favorite girl names:
    Charlotte
    Hannah
    Caroline

Names we love but can’t use:
    Elizabeth
    Alice
    Olivia
    Eleanor
    Audrey

Names we like but aren’t sure about:
    Claire / Clara
    Violet
Catherine / Katherine (we have a Katie in our family so not sure if this is too similar)

My favorites on your list are Charlotte, Caroline and Clara—in fact I think Clara (along with Emily) is the epitome of soft, simple and timeless. I hope it grows on you!

Here are some other names that come to mind. Lucy and Grace were the first two I thought of, but trying to avoid the soft C/S sound:

    Anna
    Ava
    Chloe
    Cora
    Helen / Helena
    Leah
    Lillian
    Joanna
    Julia
    Ruth

Texas Inspired Baby Names // paying homage to the Lone Star State
Nautical Baby Names // inspired by sailors + the deep blue sea
The Golden Age of Detective Fiction // timeless characters + the writers who created them

Matilda, Flora, Clementine, June, Pearl, Emmeline, Willa, Margot, Delphine, Florence, Lillian, Luella, Ophelia, Aurora, Theodora, Amelie, Camille.

Caroline, Hannah and Charlotte are all lovely although my favourites of the ones you like are Eleanor, Violet, Alice, and Clara by far. They’re such pretty, elegant names with some spunk to them too in my opinion!

    Sorry for any repeated suggestions.

I love Catherine/Katherine. I think as long as you use a different nickname (Kitty, Kit, Kat/Cat, Wren, etc.) It won't be an issue.
