I think both are pretty gender neutral, but actually I think Dallas leans a little feminine while Dakota is truly "in between." I guess I've had a different exposure to these names than some of the previous posters -- I've only ever known girls named Dallas, but I've known male & female Dakotas about equally.

Dallas sways more as a boy name in my opinion while Dakota is more unisex.

I would truly be stumped. However if I knew Dakota was a boy, then I would assume Dallas was as well. Same for a girl and same vice versa.

Both are all girl to me, but then I have only ever met girls with these names and I can't think of any male celebrity or character with these names off the top of my head (though I am sure they exist)
