    Artsy, Bohemian names for girls

    Hello berries,

We just found out that we are pregnant with our first baby. I have been a name nerd for a decade and I suggested hundreds of names to my husband. It seems that we just can’t find the right one.

We love the name Olive, but it makes me think of the fruit more than anything else (I don't like the taste of olives). People around us told me it was a bad idea and that she would get teased a lot. I’m getting to the point where I’m scared to say we like Olive when people ask us what names we are considering for a girl. We get a lot of "pickles" or "Olive Oyl". My family already told me that they would use Liv and not Olive. Once again, I love the name, but I don’t want to feel uncomfortable when I call my hypothetical daughter by her actual name outside. Olive has never been popular in my country and that's maybe way people react this way. Other names we "like" include Charlie, Boheme and Autumn, but Charlie is super common and Autumn has to be a middle name. We don't know how to feel about Boheme yet. Esme is also an option. My husband is not too keen on it but he likes the nicknames Ezzie, Izzie or Em.

He also suggested Ada, Aurora, Hazel, Cleo, Astoria, Rory, Skye, Lilith, Terra, Zara, Amelia, Genesis or Emery. I kind of like Ada and Emery. Emery Poet was stuck in my mind the past few days.

I think we like artsy, nature, spunky, bohemian names. Do you have any advice or more suggestions for us?

    Thank you!

If parents decide to choose a name from a certain culture, they must respect that culture and the gender for which the name was historically given

My advice is if you love Olive, use Olive. You'd be surprised how quickly people come around in a name once it is on a person they love. And it's been my experience that people who say "well I'll just call them ___" do so only for a short time. Then they realize they sound like fools and the child doesn't even identify with the name they call them by and they stop.

I would drop Olive. It sounds like you don't really love it

Autumn as middle name or other ideas:
    Louise Autumn
    Alice Olivia
    Lucy Autumn
    Gwen Leilani
    Juliet Autumn
    Kerensa Autumn
    Luciana Quest
    Mariella Juni
    Junia Louise

I would also drop Boheme, and I like sound of Emery Poet. I think Emery Poem would be sweeter, also Liv is sweet option.

I like the suggestion of Octavia. What about Odette? October has been another name on the rise, nn Tobi.

Another nn for Esme/Esmae could be Mae? Which I think is very boho, yet classic.
    Just for fun...GP/Combos I like...
