Thread: Lavender

I wouldn't use it as a first name because we only plan on having two more kids and are pretty set on girl names. Of course when I am actually expecting it could change.

I am a little surprised how many people are pushing her in the middle name spot. Of course I was also surprised it's not in the top 1000. I feel like it's a nature or word name that isnt trendy like Aspen, it's not new fangled like Indigo, or super popular like Lily. It's not eccentric like Tulip (for the record I like all those names)... I would put in a category with Rosemary and Clementine.

As you can see from my signature, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lavender! As both a middle name and as a first name. Lavender was my #1 for a girl (Lavender Sophia Mae) for years! It’s still in my Top 5 to this day.

I find Lavender romantic, whimsical, fresh, unexpected but not unknown, not too out-there, heard of but not common, in either place (middle or first). As a first name, which I think it is very useable for, it has a more bold, creative feel; while, it feels more romantic as a middle (to me, at least).

Currently, I’ve been obsessed as using it as a middle name, as my fiancé doesn’t like it for a first (I was heartbroken). Though, I’ve always had trouble thinking of any nicknames, so I’m glad to hear everyone's suggestions!

I love Lavender. As a unique first or a daring middle, I think its gorgeous. Vivi is my favourite nickname, but I like Evie too. I had Lavender Blue on my list for years (it's been replaced by Indigo Blue) and now I have Ophelia Lavender on it.

Lavender has always been a favorite of mine. I love it as a first and middle, though it is a bit bold as a first. Possible nicknames are perhaps:

    Liv
    Via
Lily (it's a flower that starts with the same letter so...)
    Lela
    Val
    Evie
    Eve
Lenny (if you like uncommon boy's names)
