@brigx: I really like Eloise. When you say no one else seems to like it, who do you mean? Your SO? Other family members? Or just people here? For me going into the delivery room with a top three wouldn't work. Some people say they now the right name for their child when they see the baby, but that's not my experience. With Hjörtur we decided on a name before he was born, and once he was here, I couldn't say if he was "a Hjörtur" or not. I just knew that we loved his name and it suited him because we had picked it for him... if that makes sense.

My mother, and my sister dont like it. The father and I aren't together, he said as long as he gets the mn choice he doesnt care. I dont know if I'll go with that either. I mean, its after his mimi. It's not like it's stupid or ugly or I dont agree that he should have that opportunity to have that. I love his mimi so I dont dislike the idea.

I love eloise cause of eloise at the plaza. The movie is so funny and shes exactly how I see her being. Spunky and free spirited, full of energy and sadly yes, chaotic and trouble. It's hard when you love a name, and you've had it picked out and then, no one likes it. You feel like those are the people that should like it. I know in the end it wont matter.

@brigx: I didn't realize the father wasn't that involved, sorry. What you describe is the exact reason I never discuss names with anyone but SO before the baby is born. I don't want anyone to make me doubt my decision. But I suppose making a decision all on your own is pretty hard, in your situation I'd probably discuss it with someone from my family too.

@orchidlover Congrats on your little boy! I bet your son is happy to have a little brother on the way.

@jackiebroadway Congratulations on your daughter! I love both Olivia and Olive although I do get very different vibes from them despite their similarity.

@brigx I made the mistake of asking my mom for her opinion on names with our first baby and after that I decided to only tell people once we had a name picked out for sure and I preemptively told everyone we weren't looking for opinions. I've heard good things about people bringing a short list to the hospital, but I'm glad we had a name decided on beforehand. I loved instantly being able to call my babies by name and honestly newborns change a lot so a name that seems to fit them on day 1 may not feel right after a month or so. We chose our favorite name and so far our girls grow into it after a little while. Also, if the name is solely up to you and Eloise is your favorite I'd just go for it. Maybe watch that movie with your mom and sister and see if they change their minds. In any case, they will learn to love it once it's attached to your sweet baby.

We have finally announced to all family that we're having another girl. I guess I'm destined to be a girl mom after all! I've already picked out Lucy's colors for her nursery. She's getting the old nursery which is an aqua blue so her main color is that with yellows, greens, and a little pink. I even went out and bought wood letters to decorate for her, just like I did with Alice & Clara. I'm really getting excited although time feels like it's going by so fast! October doesn't seem so far away anymore and there's so much left to do til then. Next week we are going to Sesame Place. I'm sad I can't go on the rides, but I'm looking forward to seeing my girls have a magical time. My back has been bothering me so I started going to a chiropractor again. I'm hoping to be walking pain free for the trip or else it's going to be a long vacation. Hope everyone else is doing alright!

@rosebeth: yeah he's like kind of involved but more kept at a distance for a while it was for my sanity cause everytime he spoke i'd get so annoyed and stressed out. He's still annoying honestly but i'm not like as stressed out. But he's learned that, it's not the real healthy way to do this. We used to be together, and now we're just not. It's better. It's been like the biggest topic right now between my mom and my sister. Even my mom's best friend who's like my other mother to me has been giving me name. She actually sent me the whole DUGGARS family list, and im like what are we the duggars now? She'll text me like everyday telling me names.

I've thrown around Delilah, but calling her Delia, Vivienne, Cleo, Calla, and tons of others on my list. I sometimes call her Eloise. I just feel like it fits her.

@brigx: if you feel like Eloise is right for her, than I'd say: just go for it. Your family will get used to it once they get to know her, and I'm pretty sure they'll even like it. When we weren't sure what to name this baby we've also tried calling him by different names on our list, until we found the one that felt right.

@brigx, Eloise is a perfectly beautiful name and I adore the Eloise at the Plaza reference. Honestly, at the end of the day this baby girl is yours and though family input is important, I swear any name you choose they'll end up loving because it'll be associated with the little person they will love. My husband's family are quite opinionated and they were appalled when we announced our son would be an Abel. They said it was ugly, that the name only had bad associations and people would tease him. Nowadays they adore it... Go figure!

@brigx, I love Eloise! I think it's cute and spunky and if that's the feeling you get from your baby, go for it. I love the nickname options for Eloise too. It's a classic fun name.

We named our first daughter Daisy, mainly because of the positive feeling we got from that name. We also loved that it seemed vintage and was easy to say and spell. It just felt like our daughter's name after going through SO. MANY. OPTIONS. There there a few raised eyebrows ("Is that a family name?" Sometimes I would respond, "It is now!") but everyone got on board quickly. She is 15 months now and has the sunniest, happiest personality. Her name suits her so perfectly and I love it more every day. She even says it now. DAY-zee. So cute.

I found out that the baby I'm expecting late November is a boy! It took me a minute, because I was expecting it would be another girl for some reason. But I'm super excited about it and just a little more all over the place with the names. I think we will find something that will go perfectly with Daisy though. Naming is my favorite part!

@june1070: Daisy is such a lovely name! It's so cute when they first start saying their own name, isn't it? I once got the stupidest reaction from one of neighbors to Hjörtur's name. She said "it's so complicated, can he even pronounce his own name?" Of course he can, he speaks Icelandic, it's not like those are completely unfamiliar sounds to him
And congrats on your boy! Any ideas on what you'll name him yet?

Hello all! I previously posted on a couple other due date or TTC boards, but have had a few miscarriages. I figure it's time to introduce myself since I'm 14 weeks now, due Dec 11. We just did the Harmony test and everything looks good, it's time to think about names! I find thinking about names fun while TTC and stressful when actually expecting. At least I have lots of lists.

    Best wishes to all!
