    Which of these are useable?

I'm having a hard time with this baby, in part because I am so afraid to give her a name she might think is weird or not like. My list of names ranges from Jane to Artemis so whatever I choose for this baby will set what her siblings will be named. I want her to have a name that is smart and strong and I will avoid nicknames unless otherwise stated. Here is my list of names ranging from most to least useable in my opinion. I like some more than others, but I want to see what you think of them first.

    Jane
    Adelaide "Ada"
    Louise
Susannah "Maybe Susie as a baby/toddler"
    Mabel
    Frances
    Beatrix
    Emmeline (Emma-Leen) "Maybe Millie"
    Helena
    Greta
    Cassandra "Cassie"
    Rowena
    Lilith "Lily"
    Minerva "Minnie"
    Isolde
    Artemis

Frances is one of my all time favorite names so I'm a little biased. Definitely my top pick and a name that wears and ages so well!

    Other favorites:

    Jane
    Beatrix
    Greta
    Mabel
    Phoebe Iris ‣ 3.14.19

Ramona Lane ‣ Margot Wren‣ Prairie June

August Rhodes ‣ Lane Griffin ‣ Theodore Atlas ‣ Oscar Jude

This probably won't help, but honestly I think all of them are usable.

Artemis is definitely the most out there, but it's far from unusable as a name. I don't particularly like Rowena, Emmeline, Rowena, Greta or Isolde. But they're definitely all very usable.

You could name her something completely wild and she'd love it or something completely normal and she'd hate it, and anything in between those two points! At this point pick something you like to say and hear. Maybe consider picking something you wouldn't mind being named yourself, as that might make you feel more comfortable about her finding it usable.

They’re all wearable, though I get that they’re more or less mainstream. I should say, the mainstream ones are still very spunky! So it comes down to taste plus how unusual you think you’re likely to want to go with the others or how much you care about a narrow range in the sibset.

    My faves in rough order:

    Frances
    Jane
    Adelaide
Susannah (I like Suki or Zannah as nn’s too. FWIW, my cousin is Susannah and she wishes her parents had insisted on the full name sooner - she goes mostly by now - rather than Susie or any nn for so long!)
    Lilith
    Helena
    Greta

Beatrix is too hip to me and seems to be just past its recent-times peak (versus Beatrice). Isolde is great but too many Isabels where I am and I don’t love any nn’s which I think would happen. Same with Artemis. I think a nn is almost inevitable during at least one stage and area of life and I don’t like the nn options. Unless you’re using honour names, a lot of these would be wonderful middles. Good luck!

I think they're all usable but it I was to sort them into 'safe' or 'bold', it would be like this

    Safe
    Jane
    Louise
    Mabel
    Beatrix
    Emmeline (Emma-Leen) "Maybe Millie"
    Helena

Braver (but still very usable and easy to wear)
    Frances
    Adelaide "Ada"
    Greta
Cassandra "Cassie" (but Cassie makes it feel safe)
    Rowena
Susannah "Maybe Susie as a baby/toddler"

    Brave
    Lilith "Lily"
    Minerva "Minnie"
Isolde (could be Izzy which makes it feel safer)
Artemis (could be Emmy, Ari or Issy which makes it feel safer)

I ordered them from most to least useable. Most of the changes I made were to lower some names that felt dated to me/I could only imagine on older adults, even though they are very familiar (like Jane, Susannah, Helena).

    Louise
    Adelaide "Ada"
    Beatrix
    Frances
    Emmeline (Emma-Leen) "Maybe Millie"
    Cassandra "Cassie"
    Jane
Susannah "Maybe Susie as a baby/toddler"
    Mabel
    Helena
    Greta
    Rowena
    Lilith "Lily"
    Artemis
    Minerva "Minnie"
    Isolde
eris magdalen | lilia nyx | madelief ivy
siena eve | sophie avila | tess galilea
tosca emily | vienna rue | violet adelais

    asher ~ rowan ~ sage
    cassia ~ cira ~ lyra

ansel gray | callan wilder | colm brooks
jack evander | kit olivier | latham scott
reese october | senan reeve | soren vale

All of them seem perfectly usable to me, except for maybe Minerva and Artemis. I'm not saying they're unusable, but they're definitely very brave. That doesn't make them bad names.

My favorites from your list are:

Adelaide- I'd avoid a nickname though, or go with Addie
Susannah - and Susie is very cute
    Mabel
Lilith - but again without a nickname
Mother to Hjörtur Emmanuel & Barnabas Húni

Ephraim Óli * Thaddeus Hreinn * Vignir Ulysses * Nikolai Svani * Zalman Torfi
Ondine Lilach * Lucinde Meital * Mareva Bluma * Lavinia Perle * Magdalene Dune

Susannah is one of my faves. It's classic, timeless and not popular or trendy
Emmeline is pretty and more original than Emily has more staying power than the trendy Emery & Emerson
Greta, Minerva and Cassandra are nice too...unusual with out being unusual.

    Too old-fashioned for my taste:
    Jane
    Adelaide "Ada"
    Louise
    Frances
    Beatrix
    Helena
    Lilith "Lily"

    Downright unattractive:
    Isolde - way out there
Artemis - this is an old man's name
Rowena - just doesn't roll right
Mabel - I'll never understand its popularity. I think of common words like table, cable, label, sable, enable, unable, fable. You could almost make a phrase: Mabel was unable to set the table...she forgot to disable the cable attached to her sable.

If you're worried, I think I would go for something traditional for the first name and more out there for the middle. Like Jane Artemis for instance, that way you could have the best of both worlds and she could use either name as suits her personality.

I love your list so made some sibsets with it! I think my favorites are Louise Emmeline and Frances Adelaide.

Jane Beatrix, Louise Emmeline, Frances Adelaide
Adelaide Minerva, Susannah Lilith, Emmeline Isolde
Beatrix Rowena, Helena Isolde, Cassandra Artemis
    Mama to Beatrix

    Winifred ۰ Mabel ۰ Louisa ۰ Frances
    Harriet ۰ Violet ۰ Dorothea ۰ Josephine ۰ Rosemary
    Prudence ۰ Daisy ۰ Ruby ۰ Alice ۰ Agatha ۰ Adelaide

    Casper ۰ Archie ۰ Linus ۰ Harry ۰ Theodore
    Friedrich ۰ Alfie ۰ Ernest ۰ August ۰ Arthur ۰ Oscar
    Louis ۰ Albert ۰ Alfred ۰ George ۰ Miles ۰ Henry

I vote for Helena and Emmeline. I'm biased, they are both on my own list!
