    Who are you honoring?

If you honor someone with one of your combos, who is it?
A family member, a famous person, a writer, a musician, a painter, etc.?
Are you using their names, variations, names they like, initials, similar sounding names?

We don't have many "honor" names on our list anymore, but a few still exist.

Some are family names (Powell, Dominic, Alena, Emilia, etc.)
Some are heritage-related (Enzo, Soren, etc.)
Some are symbolic (Ellis after Ellis Island, since our families mostly came to the US, not were born here; June, after the month we met and married in, a couple of years later)
Some are after famous people (Ewan....and Callum, who isn't famous, but is the son of Vloggers we watch)

Rosemary is a special case, because it is almost a Frankenstein type of honor name. I did have a great aunt named Rosemary, but she died when I was young. Instead, Rose honors a few relatives/close friends who have the middle name Rose. Mary is after my great-grandmother and after a few relatives who have the middle name Mary/Marie. So...it covers quite a few bases.

Odette is the French version of my father's MN (Otto) & my mother's maiden name (Oddo). It essentially combines the two.

Not currently on my list but a possibility when I have children:
Pearl / Marguerite ~ honors my mother b/c pearl is her birthstone.
Catharina / Catherine ~ MIL's middle name is Catherine.
Anouk (any "Anna" name really) ~ means "grace" which is MIL's FN.
Elena ~ mothers MN is Ellen.
    Otto ~ See above.
René ~ Honors my MN, Renée.

I also have a lot of names that would honor mine & my SO's heritage.

Bronte Isabella is to the Bronte sisters and for Isabella Linton from Wuthering Heights (some of my favourite writers and one of my favourite characters)
On my long list, I have Ginevra Snow, which is a nod to another favourite Bronte novel and character (Villette. Lucy Snowe and Ginevra Fanshawe) and Ginevra can also mean Geneva so it's a nod to Mary Shelley and Frankenstein
I have Henry in several of my combos too, which is a nod to Henry Clerval from Frankenstein

I don't really like the idea of honouring family members, but I do like literary connections/honourings in my combos

My sons middle name Vaughn honors my late uncle Dayle Vaughn.

Here’s the rest of my honor names, although besides Rose, I’m not sure if we will use any of them. DH recently told me he doesn’t want to use honor names..
    Rose- family tradition, 7 generations
Jarvis- grandpas last name and has no one to carry on his name.
    Lorenzo- for my dad Loren.
Dawn (G) or Don (B) - for my mom LaDawn.
June- for my great-gma. She passed away before I was born but she was an amazing woman and have heard great stories about her.
Ellis- honor name for my parents, both of their initials are LS.
Lola- this honors 3 people, my parents again and my DH late brother, dads name starts with Lo and moms starts with La- Lola. And DH brothers name was Dolores.
    Mama to Allister Vaughn 2016💚
Due June 2020 with 🌈 baby!

My little girl's name is Laurel Elisabetta. I got Laurel from a TV show. I just loved it the first time I heard it and I never had another name bump it from the #1 spot. Elisabetta is after my DH's Grandmother.

Emilia Dianne honours the two strongest women I know: my late grandmother, Emilia, and my mom, whose middle name (as well as mine) is Dianne.
    Fay also honours my mom.
Sarra is a family name that I want to continue.
Laurel and Echo are for the poem Metamorphoses by Ovid.
Tyler is after a lead character in my favourite film, Fight Club (the book is pretty good too).
    John honours my dad.

Michaela and Micah- I’d only use one or the other in real life but the names honor my late Uncle Mike.
Liliana- Lily and her variations, where do I begin? First, my mom’s name is Susana which means “lily”. Then the birth flower for May is a lily of the valley, and my, my mom’s, my cousin’s, and my best friend’s birthdays are in May, and my other cousin’s middle name is Mae. Lily Evans/Potter from Harry Potter is a bonus. Liliana is also the Polish form of Elizabeth, and I know several people with the first or middle name Elizabeth, also my grandma’s family is from Poland.
Auli’i- I love Disney princesses, and this is the actress who plays Moana.
Alessia and Alistair- I’d love to use a form of Alice or a similar name to honor my old dance teacher Mrs. Allison who was a great mentor for me.
Parker- to honor a little dancer from my area who passed away this summer from cancer.
