I would definitely keep your son's real name. It's part of his heritage and has a very cool vibe much sought after by American parents. I looked up some Finnish names. How about:

    Aada
    Aanaliisa/Analisa
    Beatrice/Beatrix
    Camilla
    Carina
    Catia
    Carmen
    Catharine
    Delia
    Diana
    Felicia
    Greta
    Hanna/Hannah/Hanne
    Ida
    Kaia
    Maarie
    Maarit
    Naomi
    Raakel
    Saana
    Sabina
    Safiina
    Wilhemiina/Wilhelmina
    Yvonne

    My favs:

    Aada
    Annaliisa
    Beatrice
    Greta
    Sabina
    Safiina
    Wilhelmina

Oh we're definitely keeping our son's name. We're only thinking of nicknaming him something a bit easier if needed.

I like Aada, but my sister has dibs on it for her baby girl due in a few months. Saana is nice too, but there's already a Saara in my husband's family so I think that's too close.

Some names that we were thinking about tonight:
    Olivia
    Reetta
    Emilia
    Elina

    Any opinions on those?

I love Emilia! Elina is really pretty too. Olivia is pretty, but super popular here. I would definitely use Emilia and Elina.

I grew up in the U.S. with a Finnish last name, and I'd just recommend staying away from the double vowels. Whenever I spell my name for people, they change "aa" into one "a" and I have to spell it over and over. Not actually a huge inconvenience, but if you're looking to make her life easier...

I lived in NYC for a while and New Yorkers aren't fazed by anything, but they were just as confused about the "aa" as people in any other place I've lived.

I love Emilia and Elina, both are beautiful. My favourite Finnish name is one a good friend of mine has (she's originally from Turku) - Satu. I've always loved Satu, and its meaning too (I think it is 'fairytale'). Others I like are Kiki and Jenni, both daughters of a wonderful Finnish teacher I had at school who was named Riitta.

Others I know of, not sure if they are your style or not:
    Petra
    Sari
    Kira
    Laura

Aino is really gorgeous, and I think it wouldn't be hard for anyone in NY to read/understand it, particularly because it is mostly a phonetic name.

Finley James - Alexander Finley - Thomas Neal
    Benedict Asher - Patrick Ellis

    Ted - Andrew - Emrys - Max - Matthias - Rupert
    Sebastian - Magnus - Oscar - Reggie
