    Cherry

Do you think Cherry is a tacky name? Does it have negative connotations, or is it cute?

    Thanks, your opinions are appreciated.

I like the meaning and the trees can be lovely and the flowers are beautiful but I'd only be comfortable using names that MEAN cherry in other languages (like Sakura or Cerise) because of the sexual connotations in English.

Stripedsocks said it perfectly. Not a great choice to name your daughter with the sexual connotations.

My mom's best friend is named Cherri, intended to be pronounced like Cherry, however she has always chose to pronounce it like Sherry because she found her name to be so humiliating. Then again, she was named after her father's favorite porn star. No joke.

I'd pass if I were you. Maybe go for Blossom instead?
