Thread: Pippa

  1. #1

Pippa is a name my husband has loved since before we found out our 1st was a boy. Well we're onto our 3rd baby and still no girls! We've always played around with girl names before finding out the sex but this is one he has always brought up.

I like it - but I'm not sure it's a name that could stand on its own outside of the UK. I know it can be used as a nickname for Philippa and less commonly as a nn for Penelope (which I do like).

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the name Pippa or as a nn for other names. Are there other options besides Philippa or Penelope? Thanks!

Hmmmmm. Pippa is cute but in my opinion it is a nn not a stand alone name. I would always assume Pippa was a Philippa.

I absolutely love Pippa because of one little girl I know (she's officially a Philippa) and she's the most adorable and hilarious child I know.

I don't like Penelope at all, but Philippa is pretty, although I don't know how it would go down in the US.

Honestly I'd just use Pippa. It's nicknamey, yes, but it it really massively different to Bella or Lily?
    Rosemary / Briar / Evangeline / Sibyl / Alba

(im twenty and live in london. names calm my soul.)

    Isidore / Emmett / Hugh / Wilfred / Oberon

Philomena isn't really my taste. I know it's a shot in the dark but are there any other names that aren't 'Philippa-like' that could have Pippa as a nn?
