    I know that it's a rather long book, but I would recommend 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

    Also, I've been reading a book called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. It's not very popular, but it is a great read. It talks about the origin of HeLa Cells and Rebecca's journey to tell the true story of these cells. Great non-fiction book.
