Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh (I love subtlety in novels, and this one has it)
Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy (tad verbose, but I love the story)
The Chosen by Chaim Potok (just super interesting)
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes (laughed and cried so freakin hard)
Villette by Charlotte Bronte (if you liked Jane Eyre you'll probably like this, it's less gothic but more honest)
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (even if you've never read sci-fi you should check it out)
Q & A by Vikas Swarup (never a dull moment)
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (clever but not arrogant)
Beauty by Robin McKinley (easy fun read)

    David Mitchell - Cloud Atlas
Ami McKay - The Birth House
Kazuo Ishiguro - Never Let Me Go
L.M. Montgomery - Anne of Green Gables and the rest of the series
