That's just ridiculous (and I don't use that word lightly). Canaan is a masculine name, always has been, always will be. Haven't enough male biblical names (and non biblical ones, too) been stolen for female use?

With violence against women at epidemic proportions all over the world, this name wouldn't be very cool for a girl.
It's not pronounced that way in Hebrew. It's ka-NAHN.

I really don't care for the English CANE-in pronunciation. I've heard it said like cannon, too, which isn't really more attractive.

It just isn't my cup of tea stylistically.
i wouldn't use this name for a boy far less for a girl.
So although using boy names on girls seems to be a thing these days, I wouldn't even use this name on a boy
