    "Ian John", repetitive?

I realized recently I like the name Ian but discovered it is a form of John, which we hope to use as a middle to honor both grandfathers. Would it be strange to put 2 forms of the same name together like that. (Last name: McGuire, big sister Anna)

    Yes, it is repetitive.

A bit, yes. It would bother me a little. I do know brothers named Sean and Ian, which I admit I raised an eyebrow over.

Yes. I have Ian on my list to honor the plethora of Johns in my life--why not just use Ian, and pick another MN you just like? I think Anna and Ian are fab for siblings.

I love both, but together it's too repetitive for me. It's like Vera Veronica. I mean, you could do it, but I would rather just use one.
