Scarlet, OPKs work similar to home pregnancy tests, in that they are pee sticks! Some brands you pee directly on the stick and other brands you pee in a cup and then dip the stick into the cup. Either way, they measure a hormone called lutenizing hormone (LH), which surges just before you ovulate. So if you get a positive, then that means you are very close to ovulating and it is prime baby-making time! Some brands are user friendly and will give you a + or a smiley face, while others (like Wondfo) will make you compare a test line with a control line - the test line has to be as dark as the control line for a positive. Hope that helps!

How do you know when to start testing? Or do you test everyday each month? Or closer to ovulation time? I appreciate the advice!Little Bird- 11.6.15
