I'm with the minority. Judith is darling, and Judy is a spunky retro nickname. I think it's surprising on a young child, but it still works surprisingly well (think of Judy Moody).

I like it, caveat: with "Jude" as a nickname and if it were my name I would correct anyone who called me Judy.

Reminds me of Edith, which I also like.

    Boy: Franklin, Gage

Mommy to one sweet little boy who I loved naming Lennox Andrew Michael

I am another who LOVES Judith. I think its so classy and beautiful. If I had a half dozen daughters, I'd probably use it as as middle (or maybe first) name.
Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane. All middle names honor family, with Jane used three generations in a row. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve).

I used to dislike Judith, but since I've discovered Judith Durham, lead singer of The Seekers, I've loved it! Her voice is so sweet, pure and angelic and she has always looked so elegant. As a result the name Judith seems so approachable, warm and friendly to me now.

Getting off topic here but the same song sung in:
1967: (Judith was in her 20s)
    2013: (almost 70)
How does one's voice stay so clear at nearly 70 years old?!

Okay, I am in my (very) late 50's so this could affect my opinion, but I think Judith is a beautiful name and it ticks a lot of the boxes for today's namers.

    1) It is a Biblical name
2a) It is a name rarely used any more
2b) It is at #896 in the US so little Judith won't be one of many
    3) Judith seems to fit in with Hazel, Edith, and her sisters.
