    Harriet but not Hattie?

I'm starting to love the name Harriet but I can't stand Hattie/Hetty. Other nickname ideas/do you think Harriet needs a nickname at all?

A friend of mine goes by Harri (with an 'i' - she always has to correct the spelling though) and I like Etta as well. Other possibilities could be Ari (AYR-EE), Riri, Ria, Rie (either REE or REE-uh) or Hetty. Good luck - I love Harriet!

I think Ria would work or just Ri. If you call her Harriet she may not go by a nickname at all. My parents always called me by my full name and there are very few people I will let call me by a shortened version.

I am in the same boat. I love Harriet, but I'm not a big fan of the nicknames. The only nickname I really like is Etta.

That being said, I think a lot of nicknames just come naturally and often don't have much to do with a person's actual name, so if you love the name, use it! :-)

I love the name Harriet but as ciotollo mentioned the nn Harri has potential! I think it's a bit more edgy compared to Hattie.
