Rhys isn't just a fine name for a boy - it is a BOY'S NAME (even spelled Reece and Reese) - and nothing will convince me otherwise. I hate, hate, hate, hate it on a girl.

As someone with Welsh blood - my grandfather is a Welshman - I feel anger build up inside of me every time I see a girl being named Reese/Reece.

Rhys spelled this way is strictly for boys, in my opinion. My cousin has a boy named Reese. He is 5, I think.
Reese works for Ms. Witherspoon, but do people really name their daughters Reese? Her birth name is Laura.
I guess people do, but I have only ever heard it on boys and her. Rhys makes me think of hunky Jonathan Rhys Meyers. If you are worried about Rhys, use it as a middle name... but to answer your question, I automatically think Reece/Reese/Rhys is a boy.

Unambiguously masculine and a nice match, with great contrast, for Everett.

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling better about the name. I think my hubby is too. I keep reminding him that his name is unisex and he never had any problems with it. He's just very conservative with boy names. I was thinking about using David (family name) or Daniel as a mn for Rhys. I figure that way, if he has constant problems with his name, he has a nice, easy masculine name to fall back on :-) Thanks again!

To me Rhys is all boy; if I saw Reese I would assume girl but would not be that surprised it was a boy. I like Rhys, a classic Welsh heritage choice, but am neutral on Reese which feels more modern to me. Not sure if it exists in your area but here Reese is a popular chocolate.
