    I think it would work best as a middle name. I LOVE whimsical middle names.

    It could go male or female, but I think it leans more girly.

    I agree with Moonkai. I don't think it's really something I would use personally but I can see it working. I think it would work best on a boy. It doesn't sound too patriotic to me. Honestly I think of like rock anthems...

    Also, there are plenty of words used as names! I think names started out as words. I think word names are cool because the meaning is obvious to everyone without having to look it up. Think of names like Zoe and Sophia. Those are both Greek WORDS. They were not originally names, just the words for life and wisdom.

    Personally I'm not a fan of word names, but if you want to give your child a word name, I think Anthem is a pretty nice word to have as a name. It could go for a boy or girl just fine, but is a bit more masculine sounding to me.
