    Agreed. Profession/ trade names are in right now, i.e. Tanner, Spencer, Cooper, Carter, Parker, Porter, etc. I see Shepherd (along with Fisher) as the unique crossroads of that and the surname trend... but at the same time Shepherd sounds nice, and is neither terribly popular nor unheard of. I love the nn Shep... I also love that this name is mature, masculine, and unique... while at the same time wearable... I could see a surfer or an accountant with this name, and it wouldn't phase me. And I like it equally for a kid and a full-grown man, which is rare.

    Shepard Alexander sounds nice, but also sounds very religious. If that's what you're going for, you've succeeded, if not... Also, nn Shep is not my favorite.

    I love Shephard! It's really cute but also ages really well. The NN Shep is so cute. Shephard Alexander is a lovely combo! I love it.
