I had a female friend in high school whose name was Sterling and I always admired it. I think your friend is making a great choice for her little boy!

I really like Sterling. I think it has a classy, athletic vibe to it.

Is there something about the name Sterling that I am missing? I don't understand all the positive comments.
Do you happen to be British? Just asking, because "materialistic" means you probably associate it with money. If so, it may be a cultural divide. As an American, I think either of sterling silver, the city of Stirling, or an honest, upright man (one with sterling morals).

I really love Sterling. I could never use it though. It really wouldn't float well with me if my little Irish boy was named after British currency.
