    My vote is for Charles as the fn, even if Charlie is used most often.

    Too kiddie for my tastes. Just because you like Charlie doesn't mean he will. I know a Willie who tells people his name is William. It was fine when he was a kid but as an adult he doesn't like having such a childish name.

    I'd still put Charles on the birth certificate. I really don't like nickname names! A friend of mine has a daughter named Charli (which I really dislike, but don't tell her that!).
