    Is Norbert really a geek forever?

    I always have a significant amount of trouble finding boy's names that I like, and when I do find some, they are usually very similar to the point that they would not work in a sibset. Lately, I've been crushing on Norbert (right now only for a middle name) and I was perusing the Nameberry lists when I discovered this one;
    Which of course, contained Norbert, and so did this list;
    Plus the name description did it absolutely no justice.

    Is Norbert really that uncool?
    And if not, what nicknames could you use other than Bert?

    Not pregnant, just thinking about names.

    I don't really associate Norbert with nerdiness, mostly because that name reminds me of The Angry Beavers (90s Nickelodeon show).

    Well, I just watched the first Harry Potter movie again last night, so obviously it's a dragon's name. :-)

    That said, it's certainly not a name you'd associate with the coolest kid in school, but that's not the end of the world. As for nicknames, Bertie would be my favourite. I can't think of any other except Norb or Norbie, none of which are that cool.

    I haven't watched Harry Potter in ages, but the name Norbert immediately makes me think of dragons too! I actually kind of like that it reminds me of Harry Potter, though.

    I don't think it's attractive at all. Norman feels much more usable.
