    Imogen sounds nicer (ih-MO-jen) than Imogene to me (ih-moh-JEEN). I think spelling Imogene in another way like Imojean would look strange, though you could call her Gene and spell that Jean.

    I actually like both. I would personally only use Imogene (which is actually in my top ten) because Gene honors family on both sides and even if I wanted to use Imogen, everyone would still pronounce it Imogene where I live.

    I like Imogen, I don't love Imogene - the gene sound is not very attractive to me.
