    Amélie, nickname Emmy

    Would it work? I really don't like Ammy!
    Would everyone just assume that the first name was Emily?

    I think it works. Just go with what you like. I know a lot of people who dont have nn related to their actual name (including me).

    Emmy could work for any name that begins with "Em-". Ember, Emily, Emerson, Emilia etc I think Emélie would make more sense and could still be pronounced in almost the same way.
