First names with the same initial as the last name?

Are they do-able? Should they be avoided?

Feel free to add any comments about your rationale; it's very appreciated.

I think it can be really striking. In general, I wouldn't, but it depends.
    Names I enjoy:

    Girls: Lucy, Elena, Lake, Sylvie

    Boys: Jack, Eamon, Sylvan, Theo

There's not a problem with it, as long as they're not super matchy, like Danielle Danielson or Forrest Foster.

Yes yes yes!! My son's name has the same first and last initial. I love the way it sounds. I agree with pps, though that if it's too matchy, it's a little weird. Like Phillip Phillips --- eh, no. But if it's done well, it can give a name a very impressive sound. Stephen Sondheim, Greta Garbo, Sam Spade (fictional, obviously), Marilyn Monroe (real person, created name), Ronald Reagan ... I know there are tons more, but those are the only ones that come to mind immediately. I'm a huge fan of alliterative names.

I sure hope they're okay! My all-time favorite girls name is Nora, hands-down. But my boyfriend's last name starts with N and is one syllable. I'm hoping that everything will work if we ever use that name!
