Flitting between the Heartland and the South
I read constantly and when I hear certain names I relate them to the characters in books I've read, the good and the bad. My two favorite names for girls come from my favorite book/book series:
    Cecelia- Atonement
    Lily- Harry Potter Series

Genevieve- I agree, I dislike the name Caroline for the same reason.

I don't usually find a name and go looking for a connection, but of course I find I like names much better after I read a book with a character by that name. These are the big ones:

Sebastian: Sebastian was a crab to me until I read Brideshead Revisited and ran into Sebastian Flyte.
Edmund & Lucy: Edmund still sounds stuffy to me, but he's a great character.
Quentin: Poor Quentin from The Sound and the Fury and Absalom, Absalom almost ruined this name, but actually in the end, he made me like it more
Gareth: from The Once and Future King (and all the rest of Arthurian Legend)
Cassandra: The enchanting heroine of I Capture the Castle

Even good characters CAN'T save some names though. Fanny, Susan, Linda, and Gilbert come to mind.
    Names I enjoy:

    Girls: Lucy, Elena, Lake, Sylvie

    Boys: Jack, Eamon, Sylvan, Theo
