Okay, I've ended my pity party early this month because I feel very hopeful about this upcoming cycle. Thank you all for your unwavering support. <3 You are fantastic. Here is why I feel good about this upcoming cycle:

    1. Between March and May, my husband sustained a severe back injury and at least two bouts of a severe flu that would have affected his sperm count until the beginning of this month (it takes about 75 days to produce new sperm). By my upcoming fertile window, 77+ days will have passed since his last illness, giving his body just enough time to produce optimal sperm that will be unaffected by his illnesses. We know that he has low testosterone and thus his sperm count is probably low to begin with, so illnesses and injury may have brought his sperm count down to basically infertile levels for these past five cycles.

    2. Well, reasons 2 and 3 are kind of complicated and personal so I'll spare you the details, but they have to do with my faith and some "God things" that I've been noticing as of late. I'm not superstitious and I'm not talking about seeing crazy signs or having visions, I just mean that I am getting the impression that God is setting me up to get pregnant very soon, within the next few months. I could be 100% wrong about that. Maybe my tubes really are blocked and I am incapable of conceiving without medical help. But my husband and I have both noticed what seem to be indications that something is coming down the pike.

So I feel hopeful about this cycle. If this cycle fails, I feel hopeful about my September cycle. In the meantime I will keep trying to put away money for an HSG test as a backup plan.

@Daisychain, those are harrowing statistics, but you are going to stress yourself out by worrying about all of those things at once! I'm a worrier too, but you're getting ahead of even me! Try to worry about one step at a time. It does seem that a baby is surrounded by threats before it is even fact, before it is even conceived. Miscarriages, stillbirths, birth defects, on top of obstacles related to conceiving and's a wonder any of us exist at all. We are miracles, aren't we. And it's not unreasonable to hope for our own healthy little miracles despite all those obstacles and threats. The Author of life just keeps making more of it. Don't stress yourself out over all the what-ifs at once; for now, try to concentrate your worries on the process of conceiving, because there are plenty of worries related to that step. "Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today." No need to freak yourself out over the future possibilities. Hold your horses, girl!

@Carla, you said that your period is due on in August 8? How long does your cycle tend to be? I realize that you didn't use ovulation tests yet, but what have you been using to pinpoint your fertile window up to this point? I ask because you mentioned that your fertile window was between August 3-6, and your period is expected on Thursday, which indicates that your luteal phase is alarmingly short. Perhaps you've been ovulating earlier in your cycle than you've realized? Your OPKs will definitely help to clear that up...but I hope this cycle brings happy news for you and you can bypass OPKs and IVF!

@Knitwit, thank you for your tips and insights. My husband and I have definitely changed our TTC approach over time, but it does still consume me emotionally and mentally. I'm a daydreamer, so each month I daydream around the clock about being pregnant with that cycle, and then I go through a grieving period when those dreams are dashed. It has made for a long year. But if you can keep your chin up after two years of this, then I can keep mine up too. We'll get there. As for artificial insemination, I don't think that would work for me if my tubes are blocked, unfortunately. I may be mistaken. But...maybe they are not even blocked. At this exact moment I don't have any way of knowing for sure, so I might as well focus on hope. Thank you for the tip.

@Alzora, you don't have to see "crazy signs" or "visions" to see that sometimes there are indicators in life that let us know what's going on and what we should do <3 I'm hopeful for you, and am glad to hear that you are hopeful, too!!!

Hey y'all!! I haven't been on for a few days. I'm trying to catch up on all the happenings though.

I go back to Dallas tomorrow for my CD12 sonogram. I'm hoping for signs of ovulation. My right ovary (the one with the cyst) has been really sore over the last few days, so I'm curious to see what's going on there. I know that Clomid can cause ovary pain, so that what I'm hoping for.

@alzora -- My cycle is usually around 26 days. Ovulation kit arrived Tuesday, so I'm planning to start using it next cycle. I've been using 5-6 days before my period as my fertile window. : )

@Everyone Else -- I have an appt. with a fertility specialist on Aug. 30. Just to get their take on the best option for my husband and I.

    Have a great day. : )

@Carlasworld - 5-6 days before your period would give you a very short luteal phase. Anything less than 10 days between ovulation and the next period doesn't leave enough time for the egg to implant. The average length is 10-14 days. Just out of curiosity, what led you to suspect 5-6 days before your period was your fertile window? For a 26-day cycle, my OPK packaging suggests you start testing for ovulation around day 9 after your period starts. Anyway, best of luck with your appointments and everything, although I guess that's still a few weeks away!
