Mother's Maiden Name as Baby's First Name

Fathers' surnames are passed down to children all of the time, but what about continuing the Mother's family namesakes? Do you have a useable maiden name, or your mother's maiden name that you would pass down onto you child? If so, what is it and which sex would you use it for?

I named my daughter, Harper, my maiden name.

My mother's maiden name was Reed. I would totally use it for a boy.

    What is your usable surname?

When I marry - and IF I take my husband's surname - then my surname isn't really usable as a first name.

My mom's maiden name was Cooper, which I'd use as a middle name.

My maiden name is Adams, so probably a little confusing at first when he would be introduced because Adam is a very popular first name so people would just assume. My one grandmothers maiden name is Parker which would blend into mainstream culture no problem. Most other names are very German (Wetzel, Bierhaus that sort of thing) and I wouldnt saddle a child which those...middle names perhaps.

My surname isn't fit all all as a first name, most Danish surnames aren't.

My mum's surname is Larsen though, I guess that could pass (would never do it though, I think it sounds stupid as a first name).

There is a tradition in my family that your first son is given a first name of your choice then your father's name and then your maiden name, If my sister or I had been a boy we would have been Spencer Thomas Atwell. I want to do this for one of my sons, but not my first.
